why black lives don't matter (to the rest of the world)

TW: racial violence, police brutality, police shooting, depictions of violence

why black lives don't matter (to the rest of the world) - a memorial poem for victims of police brutality

the one in the end
gets shot like a dog
by people
who should
protect
them

but all lives matter
even when they don't

gets strangled to death
screaming i can't breathe
is crying out in pain

gets arrested for peaceful protests
standing against an army

when the media won't say their names

because black lives don't matter
not to them
because memory of the innocent
is less important
than the fucking career of a murderer

black lives don't matter

dirt beneath their shoes
scared even though he was
12 years old
or
holding his hands up
or
complying
or
choking
or
dying

and now cops have been killed
and people have more reasons to hate
and peace at protests isn't enough

and where are those who say censorship is wrong now?

where are they?

because innocent black men
carrying a gun in an open carry state for protection
from the same cops
is a suspect even though
he followed the law

everything
going
down

tensions high
because black lives don't matter to them
even though
all lives matter
to them
all lives but the oppressed
i guess

don't take it
because

freddie grey
sandra bland
tamir rice
philando castile
alton sterling
micheal brown
and these are only the ones the media tells us about

over one hundred
dead
this year

this is why black lives
don't matter to the
rest of the world
